• Review of the Guardian Muzzle Cap

I think, lots of airsoft players faced harmful consequences of dirt, water or dust that happens to ingress into the inner barrel of their rifles. Except the possibility of clogging the BBs, this threatens to make deep scratches on the inner side of the barrel during shooting.

Commonly inner barrel picks up dirt while rifle being stored or transported. For instance, when it's left leaned to the tree during the rain which might cause the water to sink into the barrel, or when the rifle stays in the room/tent with high concentration of airborne dust. Even in the bag or case if they are not cleaned properly and regularly.

For those, who really concerned about the cleanness and accuracy of their rifles the Guardian Muzzle Cap was made. These muzzle caps already being used for a while by Law Enforcement and Military.

The Guardian Muzzle Cap was designed and OEM manufactured by Strike Industries for Max Tactical Corp., but once it's got popular it started to appear elsewhere and ECHO1 USA started to sell them too.

In an emergency, the weapon can be fired without removing the cap. The thin material over the muzzle will be blown out, but accuracy at 50 yards won’t be affected. Even if the rubber will be melted on the hot barrel it won't be hard to take it off.

Also, Guardian Muzzle Cap protects the muzzle from impact during carry or transport in a vehicle. Four stretchable ribs let you pull the cap away from the muzzle to shoot, while it remains attached to the barrel farther back. Raised gripping ridges on the exterior give you a secure grasp, even in the rain.

But let's see how it blends with airsoft reality.

Generally it all depends on the dimensions of the actual flash hider. On some flash hiders Muzzle Cap sits tight, on others - a bit loose. In this case it can fall of after the first shot (which is good). For airsoft, I would recommend it to use only for storing and transportation. During the missions with a high expectancy of firefight (and in airsoft almost every mission is a firefight mission the muzzle cap better be stored in the pouch, it needs very small room in it. Besides, if it sits tight on the flash hider - there is a high risk of piston and gears damage if player will start to shoot in automatic mode or burst mode. It might cause the overflow pressure that will slow down the piston while the sector gear might start to grab the piston again before it reaches its dead point.

Guardian Muzzle Cap fits most of NATO rifles firearms with compensator/flash hider, including M4 series, M16 series, FN FAL, L85, AUG, M249 Series, HK G3, G33, G36 Series (except the K-version with the long flash hider), Famas, and more.

Inner diameter is 21mm and the inner length of the covering part is 45mm, so it should be compatible with many more other special flash hiders.

And it's quite durable as well, 0.23 BB on 430fps couldn't penetrated it.

The Guardian Muzzle Caps already been tested on the few big airsoft projects with a harsh (in terms of dust and dirt) conditions and they performed very well.
