This photo highlights the range of weaponry employed by Scout Snipers. The right-most Marine is holding a .50 SASR anti-material rifle, the Marine to his right is holding a [URL="http://www.americanspecialops.com/special-ops-weapons/m4a1-carbine.php"]M4a1 carbine[/URL] with [URL="http://www.americanspecialops.com/special-ops-weapons/m203-grenade-launcher.php"]M203 grenade launcher[/URL], a M40 7.62mmx51mm bolt-action sniper rifle is at his feet. The Scout Sniper, second from left, is weilding a [URL="http://www.americanspecialops.com/special-ops-weapons/mk-12-spr.php"]MK 12 SPR[/URL] 5.56mmx45mm rifle while the left-most Marine is armed with a [URL="http://MK 11 Mod"]MK 11 Mod 0[/URL] 7.62mmx51mm rife.
Scout Snipers are specially-trained Marines who provide close reconnaissance and surveillance for their assigned infantry battalion as well as providing precision fire on selected targets. A number of Force Recon and Battalion Recon Marines will also hold the Scout Sniper (MOS 0317) qualification.
